Townsend records a record store chain and record label based in the north of England where looking for a solution to get their latest artist video out to the public. The video, directed and shot by Hello New Media and was compressed and hosted by Streamvideo.tv.
As one of the few independent record retailers left in the UK, North West based music company Townsend Records have been uniquely placed to spot new talent.
‘Running a successful website was incredibly fulfilling but after buying the ‘O’ album directly from Damien Rice over a crackly phone to Dublin before he had a release, helping to promote Tom Baxter gigs & providing a distribution mechanism for David Sylvian’s last four releases I soon realized I wanted more than selling other people’s albums’ outlined Townsend’s label Director Bruce McKenzie.
‘After working in various areas of the music business for over 20 years I wanted to discover my own artist & be involved in all areas of the production/marketing & development process’ continues McKenzie.
A sales & distribution deal with Universal was quickly signed giving Townsend complete freedom to support & develop artists, the hunt then began.
To co-inside with this leap forward a demo from singer Gary Cooke landed on McKenzie’s desk. The distinctive, well-crafted songs & Cooke’s raw, emotion drenched voice grabbed his attention & Gary was signed immediately.
